As an introvert myself (maybe an ambivert now after 4 years of being away from family and country), I could totally relate to it. It is more of back and forth in those zones, I enjoy solitude but also being in company of my loved ones:) thanks for sharing, it's amazing how connecting with right people eventually lead to us to our callings.

Thank you sharing your your experience, I appreciate it! 🙏

The other day I couldn’t remember the word ambivert for some reason and that made my head ache, thank your bringing me peace 🥲

I think the best part is we never know who might inspire us to take the next step.

Most people struggle to understand that introverts are drained in crowded noisy social environments and need time to adapt. Shoutout to Stephen king and shining one of my favorite fiction and movie.

The Shining was the first time I read the book before I watched the movie. I fell in love with the book, so I had high expectations for the movie, but it never came close. The cinematography was perfect, but the storytelling left out parts of the book that made me stop watching it the first time I tried. 😅

Jack Nicholson was terrifyingly good, though - he lived in my nightmares rent-free for weeks.

Completely agree, the movie focuses on the scary visuals instead of the scary personal loneliness and isolation you highlighted in your article.

As an introvert, I really value my alone time but also make an effort to try to extend myself into social settings because I often leave those events feeling grateful.

Thank you for sharing your approach! It’s great that you’re conscious about the expansion, otherwise stepping out might feel too overwhelming fast. One step at a time, who knows who you might bond with next. I feel what you mean.

My third article I posted here is about that expansion exactly. I don’t want to link it; it feels like early work 😅, but whoever finds this comment is free to adventure down the rabbit hole: look for the bright orange bird.

I feel like it’s a double edged sword at times. Speaking to a Gen-Zr the other day, they said that they were tired of trends and hive minds, and that they preferred solitude. I was shocked but understood…because it is the very reason that I prefer to be alone but don’t feel lonely. Finding a tribe that “gets all of you and your quirks” is easier said than done and now it’s easier than ever to not have to compromise yourself or those quirks to fit into a peer/social group. Exciting times. Difficult choices.

Another great take and something to ponder. Thank you 🙏

Thank you for expanding on the topic so perfectly.

You’re right that tribe is not easy to come by, and sometimes it has to be assembled, which takes effort and requires leaving the comfort of solitude. It takes real courage to start, because starting feels the most daunting.

On top of everything, we now have a chance to do all this online, with people sitting across oceans from each other. Exciting times indeed.

Thank you for being here!
